Careers at A Guy Who Can Fix ItGood at What You Do? Manhattan Needs a Guy.A Guy Who Can Fix It is looking for experienced individual specialists who know their field, own professional tools and take real responsibility for the finished result.
Our clients call us because they do not want to search for a new contractor every time something in a home or business needs attention.
They want a professional whose number they can keep.
Someone who arrives prepared.
Someone who understands the work.
Someone who respects the property, communicates clearly and leaves the job looking finished.
That is what it means to be a Guy.
If you already have the experience, the tools and the professional standards, we would like to hear from you.
Bring your experience. Bring your tools. We’ll bring the projects and the support behind them.We Are Looking for Individual Professionals
A Guy Who Can Fix It brings experienced specialists together under one service standard.
We work with individual professionals—not anonymous crews applying as a single unit.
Each Guy is selected for personal experience, skill, reliability and the ability to represent the company inside a client's property.
Some specialists focus deeply on one trade.
Others can professionally handle several categories of work.
Both can be valuable.
What matters is being honest about your abilities and consistently excellent within the work you accept.
Current Opportunities
We are interested in experienced specialists in the following areas:
Electrical Specialists
For everyday electrical help, lighting installation, switches, dimmers, outlets, ceiling fans, LED systems, designer fixtures, chandeliers and high-ceiling service.
Experience working carefully around finished interiors, valuable fixtures and premium lighting is especially useful.
Plumbing Specialists
For everyday plumbing repairs and fixture installation, including faucets, toilets, vanities, garbage disposals, bidets, water filters, cartridges, valves, supply connections and related residential or commercial work.
We value specialists who diagnose the actual problem before replacing parts and who can finish the installation cleanly around stone, cabinetry and completed bathrooms or kitchens.
Appliance Repair Technicians
For residential and commercial refrigerators, freezers, ice makers, wine coolers, washers, dryers, stacked laundry, dishwashers, ovens, ranges, cooktops, range hoods and garbage disposals.
Candidates should be comfortable with professional diagnosis, OEM parts, premium appliances, careful disassembly and clear communication with clients.
Furniture Installers
For furniture assembly and installation ranging from individual pieces to complete apartments, offices, closets, kitchens, home gyms, terraces and designer interiors.
The work may involve IKEA and Wayfair as well as RH, West Elm, CB2, Zara Home, Ralph Lauren Home and custom furniture.
We are looking for installers who understand that furniture is not finished when the last screw goes in. It must be level, aligned, adjusted, secured and ready to use in the room.
General Mounting Specialists
For artwork, gallery walls, mirrors, shelves, floating furniture, televisions, home theater, window treatments, signage and heavy or high-access installations.
Experience with different wall types, professional scanning, precise layout and work inside finished properties is important.
Smart-Home Installers
For thermostats, lighting, locks, cameras, video doorbells, sensors, shades, Wi-Fi, access control, audio, home theater and complete connected-property setup.
Strong candidates can do more than mount a device. They can connect, configure, test and explain the finished system clearly.
Glass Installers
For broken-glass replacement, shower doors and enclosures, office partitions, conference-room doors, mirrors, storefronts, windows and custom glass systems.
Professional handling equipment, precise measurement and experience working with heavy tempered glass and finished surfaces are important.
Carpenters
For finish carpentry, cabinetry, trim, doors, closets, built-ins, custom adjustments and project work inside residential and commercial properties.
We value clean execution, accurate measurement and the ability to solve details without damaging the surrounding interior.
Drywall and Painting Specialists
For drywall and plaster repair, wall and ceiling patches, touch-up painting, room painting, apartment turnovers, trim and post-project finish work.
The result should look finished under Manhattan apartment lighting—not merely complete from five feet away while the compound is still wet.
General Handymen
For experienced multi-skilled professionals who can complete varied punch lists across doors, cabinets, walls, hardware, mounting, furniture, trim and everyday property repairs.
General does not mean approximate.
A strong general handyman knows what can be handled personally, what requires another specialist and how to complete each accepted task properly.
The Work
Our projects take place throughout Manhattan in:
- Apartments and condos
- Co-ops
- Penthouses and duplexes
- Townhouses and lofts
- Offices
- Retail stores
- Restaurants and hospitality properties
- Galleries and showrooms
- Managed residential and commercial properties
- Second homes connected to our Manhattan clients
Some assignments are focused individual service calls.
Others combine several tasks throughout one property.
Larger installations may bring multiple Guys together around one coordinated project.
That can mean installing a large chandelier, handling floor-to-ceiling shower glass, furnishing a complete apartment, completing an office installation or working through a detailed property-manager punch list.
The scale changes.
The expectation does not.
The work must be professional from arrival to final cleanup. This Is Service, Not Just Labor
Technical skill is the beginning.
Our Guys work inside homes and businesses where privacy, time and the surrounding property matter as much as the object being repaired.
A client may have valuable flooring beneath the ladder.
Custom millwork beside the appliance.
Artwork near the work area.
Employees or customers continuing their day around the project.
Household staff or building management coordinating access for an owner who is not present.
Being a Guy means understanding the complete environment around the work.
It means:
- Arriving prepared
- Understanding the requested scope
- Communicating clearly and calmly
- Protecting floors, walls, furniture and finishes
- Working efficiently without rushing the details
- Keeping tools and the work area organized
- Explaining relevant findings without creating unnecessary drama
- Cleaning the area after completion
- Taking responsibility for the finished result
- Respecting the client's privacy and time
Clients are not hiring a pair of hands.
They are trusting a professional inside their property.
Professional Experience Is Required
We are looking for people who already know how to perform the work they represent.
This is not an entry-level training program for someone beginning to explore a trade.
Relevant professional experience should be visible through completed projects, previous clients, employment history, professional references, platform profiles, reviews, photographs or another credible record of work.
Experience on platforms such as Taskrabbit, Thumbtack and Angi can be valuable—particularly when it demonstrates consistent five-star service and a substantial history of completed tasks.
A profile is not required to define a professional.
The work does.
Your Own Professional Tools
Every specialist must arrive equipped for the work they perform.
That means a real professional tool set appropriate to the specialty—not one drill and the expectation that the client will provide everything else.
The exact equipment differs by field.
An appliance technician, glass installer, carpenter and smart-home specialist do not carry the same tools.
What they share is preparation.
You should understand what the project requires, confirm the relevant details and arrive ready to work safely and efficiently.
Professional preparation also includes appropriate protection and cleanup equipment for the type of work being completed.
Work Carefully Inside Finished Properties
Much of our work happens after construction is complete.
That changes how the job must be approached.
You may be installing hardware through stone, repairing an appliance beside custom cabinetry, assembling furniture over finished hardwood, working with glass in a completed bathroom or mounting artwork in a furnished residence.
Protecting the property is part of the task.
The technical result does not excuse damage, mess or careless handling around it.
Our clients expect a specialist who can complete the work while respecting everything the client already owns.
Communication Matters
A professional should be able to explain:
- What was found
- What can be completed
- What may require another step
- Whether a part or additional specialist is needed
- What the client should know after the work is complete
Communication should be direct, calm and useful.
Clients do not need a long technical performance. They need to understand the situation and trust the person handling it.
The ability to communicate professionally with clients, property managers, household staff, doormen, designers and business representatives is essential.
Individual and Team Projects
Many assignments are completed by one specialist.
Some projects should never be forced into a one-person format.
Heavy glass, large furniture, high chandeliers, complete interiors, commercial installations and other complex work may require several Guys with different skills.
On those projects, professionalism also means working well with other specialists, following the agreed plan and understanding how your part affects the complete result.
Nobody is there to compete for ownership of the job.
The property needs to be ready.
That is the project.
Organized Through Our Work Platform
Projects are organized through our work platform, allowing the company, specialist and client service process to remain connected.
The technology supports the work.
It does not replace professional judgment, clear communication or responsibility on site.
Why Work With A Guy Who Can Fix It?
Independent professionals often spend a significant part of their time doing work that has nothing to do with their actual trade.
Finding clients.
Answering inquiries.
Explaining the same service repeatedly.
Marketing.
Scheduling.
Coordinating larger projects.
A Guy Who Can Fix It provides the brand, client relationships, service structure and project coordination behind the work.
That allows experienced specialists to spend more time doing what they are actually good at.
You may also gain access to projects that are difficult for one person to organize alone: complete residences, commercial spaces, high-access installations and jobs requiring several specialties.
We are building a recognizable Manhattan service clients can save in their contacts and recommend to friends.
Every Guy contributes to that reputation.
Every Guy benefits when the reputation becomes stronger.
The Standard Behind the Name
The name
A Guy Who Can Fix It sounds simple.
The promise behind it is not casual.
The client should feel that the right person is nearby, understands the problem and can take responsibility for moving it toward completion.
That trust is built through repeated details:
- Showing up when expected
- Bringing the right tools
- Knowing the work
- Being honest about the scope
- Treating the property carefully
- Keeping the client informed
- Finishing cleanly
- Standing behind the result
One careless visit can damage trust built by many good ones.
That is why experience and professional conduct matter equally.
What to Include With Your Application
Help us understand what you actually do well.
Your application should include:
- Your name and contact information

- The types of projects you complete regularly
- Information about your professional tools
- Relevant licenses or certifications
- Links to professional profiles when available
- Reviews or references when available
- Photographs of completed work
- Your general service area
- A short introduction
You do not need to describe yourself as capable of everything.
We would rather see strong evidence of real ability in a defined field than a long list of services unsupported by experience.
Application Review
Applications are reviewed based on current needs, relevant experience, demonstrated work quality and alignment with the A Guy Who Can Fix It service standard.
Selected applicants may be contacted for an interview, review of previous work, skills verification and onboarding.
Submitting an application does not automatically create an assignment or guarantee placement.
It begins the conversation.
Build Your Reputation With the Guys
The strongest client relationship in home service is not built from one completed task.
It is built when the client saves the number.
Calls again.
Trusts the same service with another room, another property or a business project.
And recommends the Guy to a friend.
That is the kind of company we are building.
If you are experienced, properly equipped and serious about the quality of both the work and the service around it, you may belong here.
