Electrical Help in Manhattan: Lighting, Fixtures, Dimmers, Outlets & High-Ceiling ServiceElectrical work inside a Manhattan property can mean very different things.
Sometimes it is replacing a dimmer that no longer works properly.
Sometimes it is installing a ceiling fan, adding under-cabinet lighting, replacing a group of outlets or setting up smart lighting throughout an apartment.
And sometimes it is a designer chandelier hanging thirty feet above the floor that requires scaffolding, lifting equipment and several Guys working as one coordinated team.
At
A Guy Who Can Fix It, Electrical Help is built around the everyday electrical and lighting needs of Manhattan homes, businesses and managed properties.
The size and complexity of the project may change dramatically.
The standard of the service should not.Professional Electrical Help in Manhattan

From one switch to a complete lighting installation, the objective remains the same:

A light fixture can be electrically connected and still be poorly installed.
It may hang at the wrong height. A row of pendants may not align. A chandelier canopy may sit unevenly against the ceiling. Visible wiring may spoil an otherwise clean LED installation. A ceiling fan may wobble. A dimmer may be incompatible with the fixture it controls.
Inside a finished Manhattan interior, the electrical connection is only one part of the work.
The complete installation may require assembly, measurement, positioning, mounting, alignment, adjustment, programming and careful protection of the surrounding space.
Our Guys approach the fixture and the room as one project.
Because the job is not finished simply because the light turns on.
It is finished when the installation works in the space.Light Fixture Installation in Manhattan
Changing the lighting can change an entire room.
We install and replace ceiling lights, pendants, sconces, vanity lights, flush-mount fixtures, semi-flush fixtures and other decorative or functional lighting.
A standard installation may involve removing the existing fixture, checking the connection and mounting point, assembling the new fixture, installing the appropriate mounting hardware, completing the connection, positioning the canopy and testing the finished installation.
More involved fixtures may require extensive assembly, precise suspension lengths or coordination among several lights.
Our Guys handle both the electrical connection and the physical installation.
Pendant Light Installation
Pendant lights are frequently installed over kitchen islands, dining tables, bars, reception desks and commercial counters.
One pendant must hang at the right height.
Three or five pendants must also align with one another, the furniture below and the architecture of the room.
Suspension lengths, spacing, ceiling conditions and visible lines all matter. For multi-fixture installations, we plan the complete composition rather than treating each pendant as an unrelated object.
Wall Sconce Installation
Wall sconces are commonly used beside beds, mirrors, artwork, fireplaces, hallways and architectural features.
Their height and position are immediately visible, particularly when installed as a pair. Installation may also require a new or relocated electrical box so the fixture sits where the design requires it—not simply where the old fixture happened to be.
Vanity and Bathroom Lighting
Bathroom lighting must work with mirrors, cabinetry, tile and the way the room is actually used.
We install vanity lights, sconces, illuminated mirrors and other bathroom fixtures. Where appropriate, the same visit can also include GFCI outlets, switches, smart controls or related mounting work.
One appointment can address the complete area rather than sending the client to find a different person for every detail.
Chandelier Installation in Manhattan
A chandelier is technically a light fixture.
In practice, it can be an entire installation project.
We install traditional chandeliers, crystal chandeliers, designer fixtures, sculptural lighting, pendant clusters, multi-tier fixtures, contemporary suspended systems and large architectural pieces.
Some arrive nearly assembled.
Others arrive in dozens or hundreds of components and require hours of careful assembly before they ever approach the ceiling.
The installation plan depends on:
- Fixture dimensions and weight
- Ceiling height and structure
- Existing mounting conditions
- Electrical connection
- Assembly requirements
- Suspension and final hanging height
- Access to the installation point
- Surrounding flooring, furniture and finishes
- Lifting method
- Number of Guys required
For a complex chandelier, we review product information, installation instructions and photos of the location before the appointment whenever possible.
That helps us arrive with the right crew, tools and access equipment.
Designer and Luxury Lighting
Designer lighting often sits somewhere between an electrical fixture, a piece of furniture and a work of art.
We work with fixtures from brands and design sources such as
Visual Comfort, Flos, Artemide, Tom Dixon, Moooi, RH, Ralph Lauren Home, Pottery Barn and West Elm, as well as custom manufacturers, independent designers and architectural lighting suppliers.
The brand name does not determine the care we bring to the project.
It does help us understand that assembly instructions, specialty components, finishes and exact positioning may be central to the installation.
Whether the fixture costs several hundred dollars or becomes the visual center of a complete residence, our job is to install it correctly and make it look intentional.
High-Ceiling Lighting ServiceHow do you change a bulb on a twenty-foot ceiling?
The electrical part takes seconds.
Getting there is the project.
Penthouses, duplexes, lofts, staircases, foyers, lobbies and double-height living rooms frequently contain lighting that cannot be reached safely with an ordinary household ladder.
We provide high-ceiling:
- Light fixture installation and replacement
- Chandelier installation
- Bulb replacement
- Fixture cleaning and maintenance
- LED driver and component access
- Pendant and suspension adjustment
- Troubleshooting
- Smoke and CO detector service
Depending on the ceiling height and property, the work may require tall ladders, scaffolding, a lift, controlled lifting equipment or multiple Guys.
There is no arbitrary height limit.
We evaluate the location, access path, flooring, ceiling and fixture, then build the service plan around the actual project.
High-Ceiling Work Inside Finished Properties
Access equipment does not appear magically beneath a chandelier.
Ladders, scaffolding or lifts must enter the building, pass through the property, be positioned safely and leave without damaging walls, floors, doors, millwork or furniture.
In premium residences and finished commercial spaces, equipment handling is part of the work.
We plan not only how to reach the fixture, but how to work inside the property around it.
Large and Heavy Light Fixtures
Height is not the only complication.
A large or heavy chandelier may require a different mounting and lifting strategy even when the ceiling is relatively accessible.
The fixture may need to be assembled on the floor, lifted in a controlled position, supported during connection and secured by several Guys.
The ceiling structure and mounting arrangement must be appropriate for the fixture. Existing conditions may need to be evaluated before installation proceeds.
We do not force every project into a one-Guy format.
We build the crew around the work. That makes complex installations safer, more controlled and more appropriate for the property.
Ceiling Fan Installation
A ceiling fan needs electrical power, but it also needs correct assembly, secure mounting, proper blade installation and adjustment.
An incorrectly installed fan may wobble, vibrate or create unnecessary noise.
Our Guys install and replace:
- Standard ceiling fans
- Fans with integrated lighting
- Remote-controlled fans
- Smart ceiling fans
- Fans with wall controls
- Fans on high or angled ceilings
- Commercial and outdoor-rated fans where appropriate
We assemble, mount, connect, test and adjust the fan as part of the installation.
Remote and smart controls can also be paired and tested before we leave.
Dimmer Installation and Replacement
Lighting is not simply on or off.
The same room may need bright functional light in the morning and softer ambient light in the evening.
We install and replace standard dimmers, smart dimmers, multi-location dimmers and compatible controls for modern LED fixtures.
Compatibility matters.
Not every LED fixture, driver and dimmer works correctly together. An incompatible combination may create flickering, buzzing, limited dimming range, delayed response or lights that never turn completely off.
If lighting behaves incorrectly after an LED upgrade, the fixture, driver and dimmer must be considered as a system.
Our Guys can evaluate the existing setup and recommend an appropriate path forward.
Switch Installation and Replacement
Switches are small components used every day.
We install and replace:
- Standard light switches
- Three-way switches
- Four-way switches
- Dimmers
- Timers
- Occupancy and vacancy sensors
- Motion sensors
- Smart switches
- Fan and lighting controls
Switch work may be handled as an individual appointment or incorporated into a broader lighting update.
We can also add or relocate switches where the project and existing property conditions allow.
Sometimes the improvement is technical.
Sometimes it is visual.
Often it is both.
Outlet Installation and Replacement
An outlet that is loose, damaged, outdated or poorly positioned creates a daily inconvenience.
We install and replace:
- Standard outlets
- GFCI outlets
- USB outlets
- USB-C outlets
- Smart outlets
- Recessed outlets
- Outlets for wall-mounted TVs and furniture
- Appliance outlets within the appropriate project scope
New outlets and relocated outlets can also be incorporated when property conditions allow.
Recessed outlets are particularly useful behind wall-mounted televisions, floating furniture and appliances where a standard plug would prevent the object from sitting close to the wall.
Outlet work frequently overlaps with General Mounting, Smart Home Installation and Appliance Installation. The benefit of a multi-skilled team is that these elements can be coordinated as one project.
Recessed Lighting Installation
Recessed lighting can provide general illumination without adding another visible object to the ceiling.
We install new recessed lighting and replace or update existing recessed fixtures, trims and LED units.
A recessed lighting project may involve fixture layout, ceiling access, switching, dimming, alignment and selection of compatible color temperature and output.
For multiple lights, spacing matters. A technically functional row of lights can still look wrong if it ignores the architecture, cabinetry or furniture below.
We plan the complete installation rather than thinking only about individual holes in the ceiling.
LED Lighting Installation
Modern LED lighting is increasingly integrated into cabinetry, closets, shelves, kitchens, furniture and architectural details.
Our LED lighting service includes:
- LED strips
- Under-cabinet lighting
- Inside-cabinet lighting
- Closet lighting
- Shelf lighting
- Accent lighting
- Cove and architectural lighting
- Dimmable LED fixtures
- Integrated furniture lighting
- Drivers, transformers and power supplies
- Switching, sensors and smart controls
The installation should look clean when the lights are on and when they are off.
Visible wiring, uneven illumination, exposed power supplies and poor positioning can spoil an otherwise excellent system.
Our Guys consider light distribution, sight lines, control location and concealment as part of the installation.
Under-Cabinet Kitchen Lighting
Under-cabinet lighting is one of the most practical upgrades in a Manhattan kitchen.
It improves task lighting while adding depth and atmosphere to the room.
Depending on the system, installation may involve LED strips or fixtures, drivers, wiring, switching, dimming, sensors and careful positioning to keep the source discreet.
For premium kitchens, the goal is simple:
See the light—not the installation.Closet, Cabinet and Shelf Lighting
Integrated lighting can make closets, display cabinets and shelving significantly easier to use while adding a finished architectural quality.
We install LED systems inside and around furniture, millwork and storage areas. Door sensors, motion sensors, dimmers or smart controls can be incorporated depending on the selected system.
This type of work often overlaps with Furniture Installation and General Mounting. Our team can coordinate the electrical, mounting and finish details together.
Smart Lighting and Electrical Controls
Smart lighting should make the property simpler to use.
It should not create another collection of disconnected apps and controls nobody understands.
We install, pair, configure and test smart switches, smart dimmers, smart outlets, sensors, lighting hubs and related controls from systems such as:
- Lutron Caséta
- Lutron RadioRA
- Leviton
- Kasa
- Philips Hue
- Brilliant
- Aqara
- Compatible manufacturer-specific systems
Projects can range from one smart dimmer to coordinated lighting controls across several rooms.
We can also integrate smart electrical components with our broader Smart Home Installation service, including thermostats, sensors, cameras and hubs.
Before leaving, we test the system and make sure the client or authorized representative understands how it operates.
Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Detector Installation
Smoke and CO detectors are easy to ignore precisely because you hope never to need them.
They remain an important part of maintaining a residence or business.
We install and replace:
- Battery-powered smoke detectors
- Hardwired smoke detectors
- Carbon monoxide detectors
- Combination smoke and CO detectors
- Interconnected detectors
- Smart detectors
- High-ceiling detectors
Detector replacement can be scheduled as an individual visit or included in routine property maintenance.
For regularly maintained properties, detector age, condition and functionality can be reviewed alongside lighting and other technical items.
Electrical Troubleshooting
Not every electrical appointment begins with a new fixture in a box.
Sometimes something simply stopped working.
Our Guys troubleshoot everyday electrical and lighting issues such as:
- Flickering or intermittently working lights
- Dead outlets
- Switches that no longer control the fixture correctly
- Buzzing or incompatible dimmers
- Ceiling fans that wobble or fail to operate correctly
- Fixtures that do not receive power
- LED strips or drivers that have stopped working
- Lighting that behaves incorrectly with smart controls
- Breakers that trip in connection with a fixture or appliance issue
- Loose, damaged or overheated electrical devices
Troubleshooting begins with a paid diagnostic hour at the standard service rate.
After evaluating the issue, the Guy explains what was found, what can be completed during the visit and what additional work or parts may be required.
The goal is not to guess and replace random components.
The goal is to understand the problem before deciding how to solve it.Kitchen Electrical Help
The modern kitchen contains lighting, appliances, water and cabinetry in a very compact space.
Our Kitchen Electrical Help can include:
- Ceiling and pendant lighting
- Under-cabinet and inside-cabinet LED lighting
- Switches and dimmers
- GFCI outlets
- Appliance outlets
- Garbage disposal electrical connections
- Dishwasher electrical connections
- Range hood electrical installation
- Smart controls and sensors
- Related fixture and mounting work
Because our Guys also handle Appliance Installation, Plumbing Help and General Mounting, the electrical portion can be coordinated with the rest of the project.
One kitchen should not require five unrelated appointments when one properly organized team can handle the work.
Bathroom Electrical Help
Bathrooms require functional lighting, properly positioned controls and fixtures that work cleanly with tile, mirrors and cabinetry.
We install and service:
- Vanity lighting
- Wall sconces
- Ceiling lighting
- Illuminated and smart mirrors
- Exhaust fans
- GFCI outlets
- Switches, dimmers and timers
- Heated towel racks
- Sensors and smart controls
Where the project involves mounting through tile, stone or other finished surfaces, our General Mounting experience becomes part of the installation.
The electrical device and the surrounding finish are treated as one environment.
Outdoor, Terrace and Rooftop Lighting
Manhattan properties extend beyond interior walls.
We provide appropriate electrical and lighting installation for terraces, balconies, rooftops and outdoor areas, including:
- Exterior-rated light fixtures
- Terrace and balcony lighting
- Rooftop lighting
- Outdoor wall fixtures
- String and decorative lighting systems
- Exterior outlets and controls
- Outdoor-rated ceiling fans
- Timers, sensors and smart controls
Outdoor work depends on the fixture rating, location, exposure, mounting surface, power source and building requirements.
For managed buildings, we can coordinate access and scheduling with management or other authorized representatives.
Commercial Electrical Help in Manhattan
Electrical Help is not limited to apartments.
We work with offices, retail stores, restaurants, galleries, showrooms, studios and other Manhattan businesses.
Commercial projects may include:
- Replacing or installing lighting fixtures
- Display and accent lighting
- Track and pendant lighting
- Office switches and outlets
- LED systems
- Smart controls and sensors
- Conference room and reception lighting
- Retail display lighting
- High-ceiling fixture service
- Lighting maintenance
- Coordinated work outside customer-facing hours
For a business, the technical repair is only part of the concern.
The work must also fit around employees, customers, deliveries and operating hours.
Our flexible scheduling allows projects to be coordinated when they create the least disruption.
Electrical Help for Premium and Luxury Properties
Technical ability is expected.
Working properly inside a completed residence requires something more.
A fixture may hang above hardwood, stone or custom flooring. A chandelier may be positioned over a staircase, dining table or designer furniture. The work area may contain glass, artwork, millwork, cabinetry and other valuable finishes.
Ladders, scaffolding, lifts, tools and components must all enter and leave the property.
Protecting the surrounding environment is therefore part of the work—not an optional extra.
We are not simply working on a light fixture. We are working inside someone's home.Lighting Commissioning for New and Newly Furnished Residences
A newly completed or newly furnished residence may contain dozens of fixtures and controls that need to be assembled, installed, adjusted, programmed or corrected before the property is truly ready.
Our team can handle lighting commissioning and installation across the complete residence, including:
- Chandeliers and decorative fixtures
- Pendants and sconces
- Recessed lighting updates
- Dimmers and smart controls
- Under-cabinet and architectural LEDs
- Closet and millwork lighting
- Ceiling fans
- Detectors
- Illuminated mirrors
- Final alignment and adjustment
- Testing and client handoff
Instead of scheduling unrelated appointments for every room, we approach the residence as one coordinated project.
The objective is not to install a collection of fixtures.
The objective is to make the property ready.Lighting Maintenance for Complete Properties
Lighting requires maintenance even when the original installation was perfect.
Bulbs fail. LED drivers stop working. Dimmers become inconsistent. Chandeliers need adjustment or cleaning. Detectors age. Smart controls lose connection. High-ceiling fixtures eventually need attention.
We provide scheduled lighting maintenance for residences, businesses and managed properties.
A maintenance visit may include:
- Replacing standard and specialty bulbs
- High-ceiling bulb replacement
- Inspecting and adjusting fixtures
- Replacing LED drivers or power supplies
- Servicing dimmers and controls
- Testing smoke and CO detectors
- Updating smart lighting devices
- Adjusting pendants or chandelier elements
- Addressing multiple electrical items throughout the property
For owners with demanding schedules or multiple residences, maintenance can be coordinated without turning every failed bulb into a separate search for another contractor.
Electrical Help as Part of Property Management
Electrical Help can become part of our ongoing Property Management Services.
For properties we service regularly, our team becomes familiar with the lighting, controls, fixtures, access procedures and technical history of the residence.
A scheduled visit may address lighting, detectors, appliances, plumbing fixtures, mounting adjustments and other maintenance items throughout the property.
That reduces the number of appointments, vendors and explanations the owner or property manager must coordinate.
One property. One trusted team. One point of contact.Electrical Help When You Are Not Home
You do not necessarily need to reorganize your day around a service appointment.
We regularly coordinate authorized access through:
- Building management
- Property managers
- Household staff
- Personal assistants
- Doormen
- Interior designers
- Business managers
- Other authorized representatives
The owner tells us what needs attention.
We coordinate access, complete the work and provide an update.
Life continues.
That is how premium home service should work.
Electrical Help for Second Homes
Our relationship with Manhattan clients does not always end at the edge of the island.
Many clients maintain second homes in the Hamptons, Hudson Valley, Catskills, Westchester, Connecticut or New Jersey.
When a trusted team is already familiar with the owner's standards and preferences, bringing that team to another property can be easier than starting over with a new collection of contractors.
Second-home service is scheduled by project and location. It may include lighting installation, chandeliers, smart controls, fixtures, furniture, mounting, appliances and broader property setup.
Different address.
Same Guys.
Same-Day Electrical Help
Sometimes a lighting or electrical issue cannot wait until next week.
Same-day Electrical Help is available throughout Manhattan when scheduling and project requirements allow.
Send photos, fixture information, the property location and a brief description of the issue when booking. The more we know before arrival, the better prepared your Guy can be.
For complex fixtures, high ceilings or multi-Guy projects, advance information is particularly important because the correct equipment and crew must be planned.
Flexible Scheduling Built Around the Property
Manhattan does not operate on one universal schedule.
Neither do our clients.
We coordinate service around residences, businesses, building access, household staff, customer hours and project needs.
Appointments may be scheduled during standard hours, early, late or around the operating schedule of a business when available.
The purpose of professional service is not to make the client manage the contractor.
It is to make the work easier to complete.Insured Guys and Experienced Service
Every Guy carries insurance, and certificates of insurance can be provided when required by a building or property manager.
Our team was formed by professionals with years of experience completing work through platforms such as Taskrabbit, Thumbtack and Angi, supported by five-star profiles and thousands of completed tasks.
That experience matters because Manhattan properties require more than technical skill.
They require communication, preparation, punctuality, cleanliness, respect for privacy and attention to details that may have nothing to do with the wire itself.
90-Day Workmanship Warranty
Our electrical installation workmanship is covered by a
90-day warranty.
If an issue is related to the work we performed, contact us and we will evaluate it.
Manufacturer defects, product failures and unrelated property conditions are handled according to the circumstances, but our responsibility for our own workmanship is straightforward.
We stand behind the work our Guys perform.
What Does Electrical Help Cost in Manhattan?
Electrical Help is billed at our standard rate of
$149 per hour.
The first hour is the minimum service charge and also serves as the diagnostic hour when troubleshooting is required.
The final labor time depends on the fixture, existing conditions, access, assembly, installation complexity, number of devices and number of Guys required.
A switch replacement and a thirty-foot chandelier should not be expected to require the same amount of time, equipment or crew.
For complex projects, send photos, product links, installation manuals, ceiling height and access information before booking. This allows us to plan appropriately while keeping the work on the same transparent hourly model.
When fixtures, replacement components or supplies are needed, we can arrange purchasing, pickup and delivery. Product cost and related expenses are separate from labor.
Parking and transportation logistics are handled by the Guys. The client does not need to manage where we leave the vehicle or how equipment reaches the property.
