General Mounting in Manhattan: Art, TVs, Mirrors, Shelves & Everything That Belongs on a Wall

Mounting sounds like a small category until you look around a finished property.
The television is mounted.
The artwork is mounted.
The mirrors, shelves, curtains, speakers, cameras, cabinets, signs and displays are mounted.
Some objects weigh five pounds.
Others require several Guys, lifting equipment and a carefully planned installation.
Some walls are ordinary drywall.
Others are plaster, concrete, brick, marble, tile, custom millwork or a surface nobody wants to experiment on.
At A Guy Who Can Fix It, General Mounting is built around a simple idea:
If something needs to be positioned, secured and made to look right in the property, the client should already know who to call.
We provide residential and commercial mounting throughout Manhattan—from one picture in an apartment to complete art layouts, home theaters, motorized window treatments, retail displays and multi-room installations.
The object changes.
The wall changes.
The installation plan changes.
The standard of the finished result does not.

One item can be an ordinary appointment.
A complete property can be a carefully sequenced installation day.
Either way, the objective is not simply to put hardware into a wall.
It is to make the object feel like it belongs there.
The Wall Is Part of the Project
Every mounting project connects three things:
The object • The mounting system • The surface
A heavy mirror on concrete is not the same project as a framed print on drywall.
A full-motion television mount creates different forces from a fixed mount.
A floating cabinet loaded with books requires a different plan from a decorative shelf.
A curtain track mounted into a ceiling needs support in the correct location, not simply evenly spaced screws.
Before installation, our Guys consider:
  • Object dimensions
  • Object weight
  • Center of gravity
  • Mounting points
  • Manufacturer hardware
  • Intended use
  • Wall or ceiling construction
  • Stud or structural-support location
  • Required clearances
  • Height
  • Access
  • Surrounding furniture and finishes
  • Building requirements
  • Cable and power needs
The best mounting method is not the one that uses the most hardware.
It is the one appropriate for the actual object and actual surface.
Wall Types & Mounting Surfaces
Manhattan buildings contain many generations of construction, sometimes within the same apartment.
Our Guys work with:
  • Drywall
  • Plaster
  • Lath and plaster
  • Wood studs
  • Metal studs
  • Brick
  • Concrete
  • Concrete block
  • Tile
  • Porcelain
  • Marble
  • Natural stone
  • Wood paneling
  • Custom millwork
  • Cabinetry
  • Exterior surfaces
  • Finished commercial walls
Each surface requires its own drilling method, attachment strategy and level of protection.
Tile and stone need controlled drilling.
Plaster needs a different touch from modern drywall.
Metal-stud construction changes where load can be transferred.
Custom millwork needs careful planning because a visible mistake cannot be hidden behind another coat of paint.
The surface is not background.
It is one of the materials being worked on.
Professional Wall Scanning Before Drilling
A wall may contain electrical wiring, metal framing, plumbing, blocking and other hidden conditions.
Before drilling, our Guys evaluate the intended mounting area using professional equipment appropriate to the project, including:
  • Stud scanners
  • Metal detection
  • Electrical-wire detection
  • Pipe detection
  • Thermal imaging
  • Inspection cameras where access permits
Scanning is part of planning, not a promise that every concealed condition can be mapped perfectly through every wall material.
The results are considered together with building construction, fixture locations, surface behavior and the planned fastener pattern.
The objective is to make informed decisions before the first hole is drilled.
That is particularly important in finished bathrooms, kitchens, older plaster buildings and walls shared with mechanical or electrical equipment.
TV Mounting in Manhattan
A television installation should look simple when it is finished.
The screen is level.
The height feels natural from the seating position.
The mount moves correctly.
Cables are organized.
The wall around it remains clean.
Achieving that result can require more than attaching four bolts.
We mount televisions of all sizes using:
  • Fixed TV mounts
  • Tilting mounts
  • Full-motion articulating mounts
  • Slim-profile mounts
  • Ceiling mounts
  • Motorized mounts
  • Commercial display mounts
  • Multi-screen systems
  • Outdoor TV mounts
The installation plan depends on the screen, mount, wall, viewing position, cable routing and surrounding furniture.
There is no useful one-height-fits-every-room rule.
A bedroom television, conference-room display, restaurant screen and living-room home theater all serve different viewing conditions.
We position the television for the actual room.
Samsung Frame TV Installation
The Samsung Frame is designed to behave visually like artwork.
That makes alignment, spacing and cable planning particularly important.
We install Samsung Frame televisions, including:
  • Slim wall mounting
  • Careful leveling and centering
  • One Connect Box placement
  • Cable routing and concealment
  • Recessed-box coordination
  • Art-mode setup
  • Integration into gallery walls
  • Coordination with surrounding frames and furniture
A Frame TV mounted slightly out of alignment may work perfectly as a television and still fail visually as part of the room.
The installation needs to satisfy both functions.
TV Mounting Above a Fireplace
Mounting a television above a fireplace introduces height, heat, wall construction and viewing angle into the project.
The wall may contain brick, stone, tile, a mantel, metal framing or a concealed chase.
The screen may need a tilting, articulating or pull-down mount to create a comfortable viewing position.
Before installation, we evaluate the surface, proposed height, available clearances, mount and cable path.
The fact that a television physically fits above a fireplace does not automatically determine the correct position.
The final decision should make sense from the sofa, not only from the tape measure.
Cable Concealment & Media Connections
Visible cables can make an otherwise clean television installation feel unfinished.
Our mounting projects can include:
  • Surface-mounted cable channels
  • In-wall low-voltage cable routing
  • HDMI cables
  • Ethernet cables
  • Speaker wire
  • Recessed media boxes
  • Cable pass-throughs
  • Wall opening and restoration
  • Power-outlet coordination through Electrical Help
  • Connection and testing of media equipment
The cable plan should consider not only the current television but also soundbars, gaming equipment, streaming devices, network connections and future access.
Concealing every wire permanently without considering how equipment will be serviced later can create a different problem.
Clean and accessible is usually better than invisible and impossible to reach.
Complete Home Theater Installation
A home theater is not one object.
It is a group of components that need to work together physically, visually and technically.
We install and set up:
  • Televisions
  • Projectors
  • Fixed projector screens
  • Motorized projector screens
  • Soundbars
  • Wall-mounted speakers
  • Ceiling speakers
  • Surround-sound speakers
  • Subwoofers
  • AV receivers
  • Media consoles
  • Streaming equipment
  • Gaming systems
  • Remote and control equipment
  • Concealed cabling
Our Guys can mount the equipment, route cables, connect components, configure the system and test normal operation.
For larger rooms, placement matters.
The screen should align with seating.
Speakers should support the listening layout.
The projector needs an appropriate throw distance and position.
Controls and equipment need ventilation and service access.
The project is complete when the room is ready to use—not when the last bracket reaches the wall.
Projector & Screen Installation
Projectors are sensitive to geometry.
Small positioning errors can affect image size, focus and alignment across the screen.
We install:
  • Ceiling-mounted projectors
  • Wall-mounted projectors
  • Short-throw projectors
  • Ultra-short-throw systems
  • Fixed-frame screens
  • Retractable screens
  • Motorized screens
  • Commercial presentation systems
Installation may involve ceiling structure, power, low-voltage cabling, control wiring, screen alignment and room-light considerations.
For motorized screens, we can coordinate mounting, power, controls, sensors and programming as one project.
Soundbars, Speakers & Audio Equipment
Audio equipment should support the room without looking accidental.
We mount and configure:
  • Soundbars
  • Wall speakers
  • Bookshelf-speaker mounts
  • Ceiling speakers
  • Surround speakers
  • Speaker brackets
  • Subwoofer placement
  • AV receivers and media components
  • Conference-room audio equipment
The mounting height and direction depend on the speaker type and seating arrangement.
Cable routing, vibration, access and visual alignment also matter.
A soundbar should align with the television.
A group of speakers should feel like one system.
Art Installation in Manhattan
Artwork is one of the most personal elements in a property.
It may also be valuable, fragile, oversized, unusually shaped or impossible to replace.
We install:
  • Framed artwork
  • Original paintings
  • Photography
  • Prints
  • Canvases
  • Triptychs and multi-panel pieces
  • Tapestries
  • Shadow boxes
  • Decorative wall panels
  • Sculptural wall art
  • Three-dimensional objects
  • Antique frames
  • Oversized artwork
  • High-value pieces
The installation plan considers the object, frame, hanging points, wall, height, light, furniture and visual relationship to the room.
For valuable pieces, careful handling begins before the artwork reaches the wall.
The work area is prepared.
The piece is inspected.
Mounting points are evaluated.
The path from storage or delivery location to installation position is planned.
The object is not treated as hardware.
It is treated as artwork.
Gallery Wall Installation
A gallery wall is not simply a group of pictures placed close together.
Spacing, alignment, visual weight and the relationship between frames determine whether the composition feels intentional.
We install:
  • Grid layouts
  • Salon-style arrangements
  • Linear picture rows
  • Staircase galleries
  • Mixed-frame walls
  • Photography collections
  • Multi-panel artwork
  • Residential and commercial art walls
The project may begin with a designer's plan or with the collection itself.
Our Guys can lay out the pieces, establish reference lines, confirm spacing and install the complete arrangement.
Two pictures can be adjusted by eye.
Twenty pictures need a system.
Gallery Rails & Specialty Art-Hanging Systems
Properties that rotate artwork may benefit from a dedicated hanging system.
We install:
  • Gallery rails
  • Ceiling-mounted tracks
  • Cable-hanging systems
  • French cleats
  • Security hangers
  • Anti-theft hardware
  • Museum-style mounting systems
  • Concealed art hardware
These systems are useful in galleries, offices, hospitality properties, showrooms and residences where artwork changes regularly.
The rail or track becomes infrastructure for future installations.
That means its alignment and attachment need to support more than the first piece placed on it.
Mirror Installation
Mirrors combine weight, fragility and visual precision.
We install:
  • Framed mirrors
  • Frameless mirrors
  • Oversized mirrors
  • Floor-to-ceiling mirrors
  • Leaning mirrors with safety anchoring
  • Bathroom mirrors
  • LED mirrors
  • Medicine cabinets
  • Decorative mirror groupings
  • Multi-panel mirror walls
Mounting may use mechanical hardware, clips, channels, French cleats, concealed systems, mirror adhesive or a combination appropriate to the mirror and surface.
Large installations may require several Guys, temporary supports and controlled positioning.
Alignment becomes especially visible when a mirror sits above a vanity, between sconces, beside millwork or within a tiled wall.
A mirror can be technically secure and still look wrong if it is slightly off-center.
Both parts matter.
Shelf Installation
Shelves range from small decorative ledges to substantial systems carrying books, objects, equipment or retail products.
We install:
  • Individual shelves
  • Floating shelves
  • Modular shelving
  • Bookshelves secured to walls
  • Display shelves
  • Glass shelves
  • Stone shelves
  • Kitchen shelves
  • Bathroom shelves
  • Commercial product shelving
  • Wall-mounted storage systems
The intended load influences the mounting method.
A decorative shelf holding one frame and a library shelf holding several hundred pounds are not the same project.
We plan attachment, spacing, level and alignment around how the shelf will actually be used.
Floating Cabinets, Consoles & Wall-Mounted Furniture
Modern interiors increasingly use furniture that appears to float.
We mount:
  • Floating media consoles
  • Wall-mounted cabinets
  • Floating bathroom cabinets
  • Wall-mounted desks
  • Bedside tables
  • Display cabinets
  • Kitchen cabinets
  • Medicine cabinets
  • Modular wall units
These projects often overlap with Furniture Assembly & Installation.
The piece may need to be assembled, joined, leveled and adjusted before it can be mounted.
Doors and drawers need alignment after the cabinet reaches the wall.
The completed installation should behave like part of the room rather than furniture temporarily attached to it.
Curtain Rod & Track Installation
Window treatments affect privacy, light and the visual scale of a room.
We install:
  • Curtain rods
  • Double rods
  • Wall-mounted tracks
  • Ceiling-mounted tracks
  • Bay-window systems
  • Blackout curtains
  • Sheer systems
  • Room-divider curtains
  • Commercial curtain tracks
  • Extra-wide and multi-panel systems
The installation should consider curtain weight, opening direction, ceiling or wall structure, window trim, furniture and the final height above the floor.
A rod can be perfectly level and still be positioned poorly for the room.
The finished curtain—not the empty bracket—determines whether the placement works.
Blinds, Shades & Motorized Window Treatments
We install and configure:
  • Roller shades
  • Roman shades
  • Cellular shades
  • Venetian blinds
  • Wood blinds
  • Solar shades
  • Blackout shades
  • Inside-mount systems
  • Outside-mount systems
  • Motorized shades
  • Smart curtain motors
  • Multi-window control systems
  • Commercial window treatments
Motorized systems can include power, remotes, wall controls, sensors, hubs, limit settings, grouping and programming.
Our General Mounting, Electrical Help and Smart Home Installation services can be coordinated so the shade is not merely attached—it is ready to operate.
For properties with many windows, consistent height and alignment are particularly important.
One shade can be adjusted individually.
Twenty shades need a plan.
Bathroom & Kitchen Accessories
Small accessories create some of the most visible alignment lines in a room.
We mount:
  • Towel bars
  • Towel rings
  • Toilet-paper holders
  • Robe hooks
  • Shower shelves
  • Grab bars
  • Bathroom accessory sets
  • Kitchen rails
  • Pot racks
  • Magnetic knife holders
  • Wall organizers
  • Soap and dispenser systems
Tile, stone, waterproofed walls and concealed plumbing make bathroom drilling different from ordinary drywall mounting.
Before installation, the location and surface need to be considered carefully.
For grab bars and other safety-related equipment, attachment must be planned around the wall structure and intended load.
Furniture Anchoring & Child-Safety Mounting
Tall furniture and active households create another type of mounting need: preventing movement rather than displaying an object.
We provide:
  • Anti-tip furniture anchoring
  • Dresser anchoring
  • Bookcase anchoring
  • Cabinet anchoring
  • Child-safety gates
  • Wall-mounted baby monitors
  • Nursery shelving
  • Changing-table accessories
  • Safety hardware
  • Home-gym equipment anchoring
The hardware should protect the household without unnecessarily damaging the furniture or finished wall.
Furniture type, wall construction and expected force all affect the method.
Smart-Home Device Mounting
Smart-home equipment still needs a physical place in the property.
We mount:
  • Security cameras
  • Video doorbells
  • Motion sensors
  • Entry sensors
  • Smart displays
  • Control panels
  • Thermostats
  • Wi-Fi access points
  • Smart hubs
  • Monitoring devices
  • Leak sensors
General Mounting covers the physical installation. Smart Home Installation can add power coordination, pairing, programming, network setup, testing and integration into the broader system.
The objective is not a collection of devices attached wherever the installer found space.
It is a system positioned to work with the property.
Commercial Mounting in Manhattan
Commercial spaces often require mounting at scale.
An office may need conference-room screens, art, acoustic panels, directories and equipment across several rooms.
A retailer may need product shelving, mirrors, displays and signs before opening.
A restaurant may need menu boards, televisions, speakers and decorative elements installed around operating hours.
We provide mounting for:
  • Offices
  • Retail stores
  • Showrooms
  • Restaurants and cafés
  • Hotels
  • Art galleries
  • Medical offices
  • Building common areas
  • Hospitality properties
Commercial projects can include:
  • TVs and display screens
  • Video walls and multi-screen layouts
  • Conference-room equipment
  • Artwork and gallery systems
  • Mirrors
  • Menu boards
  • Product shelving
  • Retail displays
  • Acoustic panels
  • Office directories
  • Signs and dimensional letters
  • Speakers and AV equipment
  • Window treatments
  • Security equipment
Multiple Guys can work through the space systematically so the property is prepared as one project rather than a series of unrelated appointments.
Interior & Exterior Sign Installation
Signage connects mounting with brand presentation.
We install:
  • Interior signs
  • Exterior signs
  • Dimensional letters
  • Acrylic signs
  • Metal signs
  • Office directories
  • Suite and room identification
  • Menu boards
  • Illuminated signs
  • Neon signs
  • Retail branding elements
  • Building and property signs
Installation may involve alignment templates, multiple mounting points, power coordination, exterior access and building requirements.
Letters need consistent spacing.
Signs need to remain level and visible.
Illuminated elements need both secure mounting and appropriate electrical coordination.
The sign represents the business after the Guys leave.
The installation should reflect that.
Outdoor, Terrace & Rooftop Mounting
Mounting does not stop at the apartment door.
We install exterior and outdoor items including:
  • Outdoor televisions
  • Exterior artwork
  • Decorative panels
  • Planters and planter systems
  • Shelves
  • Cameras
  • Heaters
  • Signs
  • Rooftop and terrace accessories
Outdoor mounting adds wind, moisture, temperature change, corrosion, façade construction and access to the project.
The hardware and method need to make sense for exterior conditions and the property.
For façade or rooftop work, building approval, access planning and site conditions are reviewed before installation.
High-Wall & High-Ceiling Mounting
Penthouses, duplexes, lofts, staircases, lobbies and commercial spaces can place the installation well beyond an ordinary household ladder.
We handle high-access mounting using equipment appropriate to the project, including:
  • Professional ladders
  • Extension ladders
  • Scaffolding
  • Mechanical lifts
  • Multiple-Guy crews
  • Temporary supports and lifting equipment
There is no arbitrary height limit.
The height determines the access plan.
High-access work can include artwork, mirrors, televisions, speakers, curtains, signs, shades and decorative installations.
Getting to the wall safely is part of the project—not an afterthought added on arrival.
Large, Heavy & Complex Objects
Some objects simply are not one-Guy installations.
Oversized mirrors, stone shelves, large artwork, heavy cabinets, commercial displays, signs and complex equipment may require several technicians and controlled lifting.
There is no useful universal weight limit.
We build the crew, mounting method and lifting plan around the object.
Planning may consider:
Weight • Dimensions • Center of gravity • Mounting points • Surface • Height • Access • Lifting method • Surrounding finishes • Final intended use
For difficult projects, send photographs, dimensions, weight, installation documentation and location information before the appointment.
The more we know before arrival, the less the property becomes the place where the plan is invented.
Wall Repair & Finish Restoration
Mounting work sometimes includes removing an existing object, relocating it or opening a wall for concealed wiring.
Our team can handle the related finish work, including:
  • Filling old mounting holes
  • Drywall patching
  • Joint compound
  • Sanding
  • Primer and paint
  • Tile repair
  • Wood touch-up
  • Reinstallation of trim or access panels
  • Surface cleanup after drilling
This is especially useful when a television moves, a gallery wall is redesigned, shades are replaced or a property is prepared for a new owner or tenant.
The old installation should not remain visible simply because the new object moved six inches.
Multiple Mounting Tasks in One Visit
The most efficient use of General Mounting is often not one object.
A client may need:
  • Two televisions
  • A gallery wall
  • Three mirrors
  • Shelves in the office
  • Curtain rods in the bedrooms
  • A camera at the entry
  • Bathroom accessories
  • Furniture anchoring
These items can be organized into one service visit or a planned installation schedule.
The Guys move through the property systematically.
Surfaces are protected.
Measurements are confirmed.
Items are installed and adjusted.
The work area is cleaned.
The client does not need eight separate appointments for eight things that belong on walls.
Complete Property Mounting
A newly completed or newly furnished residence may need mounting throughout the entire property.
Artwork, televisions, mirrors, shelves, shades, accessories, cameras and furniture anchoring may all arrive within the same period.
Our team can approach the residence as one complete installation project.
We can coordinate with:
  • Interior designers
  • Art consultants
  • Architects
  • Property managers
  • Building management
  • Household staff
  • AV specialists
  • Smart-home integrators
  • Furniture installers
  • Other authorized representatives
The client identifies what needs to be ready.
The Guys coordinate the installation across rooms and trades.
One property. Every wall. One trusted team.
Mounting for Interior Designers & Art Professionals
Designers and art professionals often need an installation team that can follow plans while adapting to real site conditions.
We work from:
  • Elevations
  • Layout drawings
  • Designer measurements
  • Art inventories
  • Numbered installation plans
  • Product documentation
  • On-site direction
The project may involve one statement piece or an entire furnished residence.
The Guys can coordinate placement, unpacking, mounting, adjustment and related finish work while respecting the designer's intent.
Attention to detail matters because the installation is the final stage where the design becomes physical.
Property Management Mounting Service
Mounting needs continue after the property is furnished.
Artwork changes.
A television is upgraded.
New shades arrive.
A mirror needs adjustment.
Furniture needs anchoring before guests arrive.
An office or rental property needs to be reset.
For properties we service regularly, General Mounting can become part of ongoing Property Management Services.
The manager sends one request.
The Guys understand the building, access requirements and previous work.
Several items can be addressed during one scheduled visit.
One call for everything that needs to be placed, secured or adjusted throughout the property.
Mounting When You Are Not Home
The owner does not necessarily need to supervise every measurement.
With clear instructions and authorized access, we coordinate through:
Building management • Property managers • Interior designers • Household staff • Personal assistants • Doormen • Office managers • Other authorized representatives
Before the visit, send:
  • Photos of the object
  • Dimensions and weight
  • Product link or manual
  • Photos of the intended surface
  • Desired location or layout
  • Building-access information
  • COI requirements
  • Preferred appointment time
For art layouts, elevations or marked photographs are helpful.
For TVs and equipment, include the model and proposed mount.
For shades, include window measurements and product information.
Good preparation allows the installation to proceed without turning the owner's day into a construction meeting.
General Mounting at Second Homes
Many Manhattan clients maintain second homes in the Hamptons, Hudson Valley, Catskills, Westchester, Connecticut or New Jersey.
For established clients and suitable projects, General Mounting at those properties may be arranged in advance.
This can include:
  • Complete art installation
  • TVs and home theaters
  • Mirrors and shelves
  • Window treatments
  • Outdoor mounting
  • Security equipment
  • Furniture anchoring
  • Guest-room preparation
  • Seasonal setup
Location, travel, crew, access equipment and scheduling are evaluated individually.
The client already knows the team.
Only the wall changed.
Insured, Experienced & Detail-Oriented
Our Guys bring years of hands-on installation experience, including five-star work histories developed through platforms such as TaskRabbit, Thumbtack and Angi.
Our service includes:
  • Insured Guys
  • Certificate of Insurance availability
  • Professional mounting and scanning equipment
  • Multi-Guy crews
  • High-access capability
  • Residential and commercial service
  • Flexible scheduling
  • Same-day availability when the schedule and project allow
  • Early morning, evening and weekend appointments

  • 90-day workmanship warranty
Mounting takes place inside finished properties.
That means floors, furniture, artwork, glass, millwork, stone and surrounding surfaces are part of the work environment.
We organize the area, protect the property and clean up after drilling and installation.
Technical attachment is expected.
The calm, careful service surrounding it is what makes the Guys different.
